What you will do

  • Supervise daily field activities, routes, drivers, buses, customer service, and campus transit operations.
  • Coordinate driver shortages, late arrivals, sick calls, bus swaps, mechanical issues, workstation coverage, and radio traffic.
  • Assign vehicles and buses, distribute route and charter materials, and maintain route boards, logs, passenger counts, and operational records.
  • Supervise full-time and student employees, including time approval, leave requests, evaluations, payroll-related records, and disciplinary documentation.
  • Respond to accidents and operational issues while improving service efficiency and maintaining compliance with university policies and state laws.
  • Process maintenance sheets and charter paperwork and coordinate activities between the transit office, maintenance shop, and field supervisors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience, including two years of supervisory and customer service experience.
  • Ability to operate multiple types of buses and vans safely in congested traffic and adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, independent judgment, multitasking, and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications, as well as two-way radio and office operations.
  • Valid vehicle operator’s license and good driving record; ability to obtain a State of Texas Class B commercial driver’s license with passenger and air-brakes endorsements within 60 days of employment.

  • Vocational training or an associate’s degree.
