TL;DR
Ground Systems Software Engineer II (Aerospace): Building reliable ground-segment services, mission-control interfaces, simulation tools, and deployment infrastructure for spacecraft operations with an accent on telemetry, commanding, real-time data distribution, and safety-critical software. Focus on designing deterministic systems, automating flight-software testing, building observability and CI/CD platforms, and deploying software across air-gapped mission environments.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $144,020–$184,026 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain high-reliability services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and spacecraft commanding.
  • Build operator-grade mission-control UIs and dashboards for integration, testing, and on-orbit operations.
  • Create flight-software simulations, device emulators, and scenario-based automated tests for avionics, GNC, and operations teams.
  • Design and productionize CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, infrastructure-as-code, observability, test harnesses, and hardware-in-the-loop frameworks.
  • Deploy software across lab benches, test stands, and mission networks, including safe rollback and limited-connectivity deployment strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
  • Strong Python development skills and systems fundamentals covering concurrency, networking, performance, and reliability.
  • Experience with real-time data acquisition, low-latency messaging, telemetry distribution, and time-series or relational databases.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, dependency and build systems, infrastructure-as-code, logging, metrics, tracing, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in C++, Ansible, or NiceGUI.
  • Experience with data acquisition, closed-loop control, flight-software integration, simulation, or testing tools.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical requirements, testing, certification artifacts, ground-systems standards, or mission-network security.
  • Experience building mission-grade interfaces with command workflows, alarming, and situational awareness.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with flexible paid time off and 12 paid holidays.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • Parental leave, family-building support, wellness reimbursement, and sponsored medical memberships.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% immediately vested employer match and incentive equity.
  • Relocation support may be available for new hires, alongside daily lunch, twice-weekly dinner, team events, and complimentary EV charging.
