TL;DR
Senior Mission Software Engineer (Space): Building reliable ground-segment services, mission-control interfaces, simulation tools, and deployment infrastructure for spacecraft operations with an accent on telemetry, commanding, real-time data distribution, and safety-critical software. Focus on designing deterministic systems, automating flight-software testing, and deploying mission software across lab, test-range, and air-gapped operational environments.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be U.S. persons authorized to access export-controlled technology.

Salary: $169,067–$216,031 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain high-reliability ground-segment services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding.
  • Build operator-grade mission-control interfaces and dashboards for integration, testing, and on-orbit operations.
  • Create flight-software simulations, device emulators, scenario-based automated tests, and hardware-in-the-loop frameworks.
  • Design and productionize CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, infrastructure-as-code, service templates, observability, and self-service mission tooling.
  • Implement robust deployments across laboratory, test-stand, test-range, and mission-network environments, including safe rollbacks and air-gapped operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
  • 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
  • Strong Python expertise and systems fundamentals covering concurrency, networking, performance, and reliability.
  • Experience with real-time data acquisition and distribution, low-latency messaging, time-series and relational databases, CI/CD, dependency and build systems, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience with logging, metrics, tracing, Docker, Kubernetes, release management, phased rollouts, and controlled networks.
  • Must be a U.S. person and authorized to work in the United States under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in C++, Ansible, and/or NiceGUI.
  • Experience with data acquisition, closed-loop control, flight-software integration, simulation, and testing tools.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical certification artifacts, ground-system standards, mission-network security, and mission-grade command interfaces.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with flexible paid time off and 12 paid holidays.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • Parental leave, family-building support, wellness reimbursement, and sponsored One Medical memberships.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% employer match, incentive equity, and cell phone reimbursement.
  • Relocation support may be available for new hires, with meals, team events, and complimentary EV charging at the workplace.
