Senior Frontend Engineer (FinTech)

Location: Fully remote, must be located within Africa

What you will do

• Own frontend feature delivery for internal commercial tooling from design documentation through production monitoring.
• Build and extend Vue 3 components in the shared design system, including stable APIs for consuming engineers.
• Integrate REST APIs with serverless and EKS services while handling eventual consistency, retries, idempotency, and partial failures.
• Instrument frontend features in Datadog and propagate correlation IDs to backend services.
• Write and review design documents, lead knowledge-sharing sessions, and communicate delivery status to stakeholders.
• Maintain testing and code quality, participate in peer reviews, and support the Commercial development rota approximately once every five weeks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Frontend Engineer.
• Expert-level Vue 3, Composition API, and TypeScript experience; strong React or Svelte engineers may also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript, component architecture, Pinia or similar state-management patterns, modern CSS, SCSS, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience building scalable, high-performance interfaces, shared component libraries or design systems, and data-dense tables, dashboards, and forms.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, distributed backend failure modes, frontend security including XSS and CSRF, and AWS services such as CloudFront, S3, Cognito, and CodeArtifact.
• Experience with frontend testing tools and Storybook, plus clear written and verbal communication.

Nice to have

• FinTech, crypto, trading, FX, money movement, or other regulated-environment experience.
• Experience with African markets or multi-currency, multi-regulator environments.
• Knowledge of serverless architectures, Datadog observability, WCAG 2.1 AA, CI/CD, release tooling, or legacy frontend migrations.
• Practical use of AI coding tools.
