Senior Software Engineer (Telecom)

Location: Hybrid role based in Rotterdam, Netherlands

Salary: €60,000–€70,000 gross per year, including the 8% holiday allowance

Swisscom is a Swiss IT and telecommunications company developing digitalization and networking solutions, with a DevOps Center in Rotterdam.

What you will do

• Collaborate with product owners, architects, engineers, telecom teams, infrastructure providers, and business stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
• Own stakeholder and customer needs from requirements gathering and solution design through delivery and user acceptance testing.
• Build, operate, and continuously improve applications running on Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms.
• Drive Agile engineering practices through code reviews, pair programming, demos, and shared learning.
• Influence architecture and technology decisions to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
• Coach and mentor engineers while applying automation and AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements

• Degree in Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or a comparable technical field.
• Proficiency in Golang, Python, Vue.js, or similar technologies.
• Solid experience with Kubernetes, containers, Helm, and GitOps practices.
• Experience with Git, GitLab Pipelines, FluxCD, and modern DevOps and CI/CD toolchains.
• Strong stakeholder management, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the Kubernetes Operators ecosystem and related cloud-native technologies.
• Kubernetes certifications such as CKA or CKAD.
• Knowledge of telecommunications and mobile service environments.
• Experience with Clean Architecture, Test-Driven Development, and modern frontend applications.

Hiring process
