Software Engineer (Genomics)

Location: On-site in Irving, Texas, United States

Salary: $87,600–$146,000 per year, with potential additional bonus or long-term incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, release, and support features for web-based, cloud-hosted applications.
• Build and enhance software for genomic and biomedical data used by clinicians, researchers, laboratories, and clinical development teams.
• Participate in code reviews and software design reviews while collaborating with a small engineering team.
• Help improve engineering processes, products, and the technology platform.
• Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, and designers to develop creative and technically sound solutions.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software development experience, typically including relevant industry experience.
• Experience building web applications or data processing systems.
• Familiarity with web technologies and substantial experience with at least one common programming language.
• Experience across frontend, backend, and database technologies.
• Ability to design software against functional and technical requirements and communicate design decisions clearly.
• Four-year degree in computer science, engineering, or another STEM field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Vue.js, Java, Groovy, Grails, Kafka, Micronaut, MongoDB, or Elasticsearch.
• Professional or academic experience in healthcare, biology, genomics, or a related field.
• Interest in applying technology to healthcare and clinical research.
• Strong teamwork skills and a humble, collaborative attitude.
