Engineer (WordPress/PHP)

Location: Remote within the EMEA region

Salary: £30,000–£50,000 per year, depending on experience and location

What you will do

• Plan and implement features from specifications while prioritising work and meeting delivery deadlines.
• Develop and maintain reusable WordPress plugins, shared libraries, and internal tooling.
• Refactor code, fix bugs, and debug code across projects.
• Collaborate with delivery teams and clients using clear, consistent communication and agile practices.
• Contribute to engineering processes, tooling, and technical standards.
• Take greater project leadership and architectural responsibility as experience grows.

Requirements

• Experience with modern WordPress, including block themes and the Site Editor.
• In-depth PHP and/or JavaScript knowledge, with strong HTML, CSS, performance, and accessibility practices.
• Experience with MySQL, database-driven applications, RESTful APIs, and external service integrations.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, npm, Composer, and local development environments.
• Ability to debug code, manage multiple tasks, take ownership, and communicate clearly in English.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tools and understanding of their appropriate use and limitations.
