Group Indirect Tax Accounting Manager (Retail)

What you will do

• Prepare the Group's UK VAT return and manage associated VAT payments.
• Review indirect tax balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger entries, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Lead the preparation, review, and submission of overseas VAT and sales tax returns with local finance teams and external advisers.
• Prepare and maintain the Group's Partial Exemption Special Method and monitor its accuracy and compliance.
• Manage relationships with tax authorities and external tax advisers.
• Support indirect tax governance, finance system implementations, process improvements, and audits.

Requirements

• Recognised accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
• Strong financial accounting knowledge and experience with account reconciliations.
• Analytical approach, attention to detail, and ability to investigate anomalies and solve problems.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work to tight deadlines.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
• Motivated, collaborative, commercially minded attitude and willingness to develop indirect tax expertise.

Nice to have

• Additional tax or VAT qualifications, such as CTA.
• Experience in a retail or consumer-facing business.
• Previous VAT experience.
