TL;DR
Scientific Data Analyst II (Biomedical Data): Managing and analyzing large immunological datasets from serology, flow cytometry, clinical, and epidemiological studies with an accent on statistical analysis, data quality, and reproducible workflows. Focus on building databases, automating analysis processes, designing studies and power calculations, and interpreting complex biomedical data for reports and publications.

Location: Onsite at 8560 Progress Dr, Frederick, Maryland, USA; no telework option.

Salary: $76,800–$110,103 per year

What you will do

  • Build and manage databases for large-scale immunological laboratory datasets.
  • Review, validate, clean, and quality-control laboratory data and documentation.
  • Perform statistical analyses, data trending, power calculations, study design, and assay validation.
  • Automate data collection and analysis workflows to improve efficiency and reproducibility.
  • Develop publication-quality tables, graphs, reports, statistical models, and algorithms.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, investigators, managers, and directors to interpret findings and resolve data issues.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Computational Sciences, Data Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least two years of progressively responsible data analysis experience.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, scientific data analysis, databases, data management, and Laboratory Information Management Systems.
  • Experience using R and SAS for biomedical studies and evaluating assay performance with statistical trend analysis.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Medical clearance and immunizations are required because of potential exposure to infectious materials.

Nice to have

  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Computational Sciences, Data Sciences, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of related data analysis experience.
  • Experience processing high-throughput biomedical data, including cleaning, normalization, analysis, interpretation, and visualization.
  • Proficiency with Python, R, MATLAB, or similar scientific programming languages.
  • Experience with immunology, serology, biomarker assay data, scientific publications, or GxP laboratory environments.
