Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning (Safety)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States

Salary: $220,000–$247,500 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Analyze data to identify risk patterns and inform machine learning model design.
• Build, iterate on, and evaluate models for detecting risk and anomalous behavior.
• Deploy real-time and batch models into production, writing backend code as needed for scalability and reliability.
• Partner with product, engineering, design, policy, legal, and Trust & Safety teams to deliver effective machine learning solutions.
• Curate golden label sets at scale and improve data labeling techniques for model training.
• Document modeling approaches, monitor system performance, and apply current machine learning best practices.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or applied machine learning.
• Strong coding skills in Python and fluency with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Experience building performant machine learning systems at scale and delivering projects from ideation through production.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, data science, legal, policy, and product teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field.
• Ability to approach complex problems with clear reasoning, creativity, and pragmatic solutions.
