IP Paralegal (Biotech)

What you will do

• Maintain intellectual property docketing systems and manage IP files.
• Track patent annuity and renewal deadlines, coordinate with attorneys and vendors, and confirm payments.
• Communicate with outside counsel to obtain documents and ensure accurate docketing.
• Prepare and proofread filing receipts, assignments, declarations, and other formal IP documents.
• Collaborate with paralegals and IP practitioners on daily work and special projects.
• Provide periodic administrative support to the Vice President, Head of Intellectual Property, and the IP team.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of patent paralegal experience in patent prosecution and management.
• Experience handling patent annuities and renewals, including deadline tracking and monitoring.
• Experience with electronic IP docketing and annuity management systems.
• Familiarity with the USPTO e-filing system.
• Proficiency with document and email management applications and databases, preferably Outlook, SharePoint, and iManage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; an associate, B.A., or B.S. degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with biotech or pharmaceutical patents.
• Willingness to learn new systems and apply AI or other technology to improve IP workflows.
