Rendering Programmer (C++) (Game Engine Development): Improving a proprietary C++ game engine and renderer across DirectX, Vulkan, and console graphics backends with an accent on real-time rendering, GPU and CPU optimization, and cross-platform consistency. Focus on implementing rendering features, debugging hardware-specific issues, and solving complex performance, synchronization, and resource-lifetime challenges.

Location: Remote. The company is headquartered in Bremen, Germany; relocation assistance may be available if applicable.

hirify.global is an independent game and software development studio building soft-body physics vehicle simulation products, including hirify.global.drive and hirify.global.tech.

What you will do

  • Improve the proprietary C++ game engine and renderer.
  • Develop and maintain rendering features across DirectX 11, DirectX 12, Vulkan, and console APIs.
  • Optimize GPU and CPU frame time, memory usage, and rendering performance.
  • Investigate GPU vendor, driver, and hardware-specific issues across player hardware.
  • Work with artists and technical artists to bring visual goals into real-time applications.
  • Own long-term projects, assist with build systems and continuous integration, and guide developers through reviews and mentorship.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience with C++ programming and real-time rendering.
  • Experience creating or modifying rendering code in a custom or proprietary engine.
  • Experience with multithreading primitives, parallel command recording, and at least one modern graphics API such as DirectX 12, Vulkan, or a console equivalent.
  • Shader authoring experience with HLSL or GLSL, including compute shaders.
  • Strong knowledge of rendering pipelines, GPU hardware, memory management, optimization, linear algebra, geometry, and color spaces.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing a custom engine or renderer.
  • Console development and multi-backend graphics abstraction experience.
  • Shader compilation and cross-compilation knowledge, including DXC and SPIR-V.
  • Linux programming and scripting, CI troubleshooting, and library integration experience.
  • VR rendering experience and willingness to mentor developers or conduct code reviews.
