Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Fully remote for candidates in European timezones; periodic in-person team gatherings are required

Salary: EUR 116,000–146,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and build clean, testable, and efficient backend systems.
• Architect scalable APIs and infrastructure for high-volume, high-trust requirements.
• Address complex product challenges by analyzing user needs and system behavior.
• Shape engineering practices, technical culture, and long-term maintainability through hands-on collaboration.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of backend engineering experience; the team primarily hires engineers with 7+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience architecting scalable infrastructure for fintech, payments, identity, or other regulated environments.
• Production experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and message queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Experience deploying applications in containerized or cloud environments such as Kubernetes or AWS.
• Must be based in a European timezone; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Node.js and TypeScript experience.
• Familiarity with Event Sourcing patterns.
