TL;DR
Associate Chemist - PFAS Analysis - Environment Testing - M-F 7am-3:30pm (PFAS/LC-MS): Preparing and analyzing environmental samples with an accent on PFAS sample preparation, liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry, data evaluation, and quality control. Focus on performing routine laboratory analyses, maintaining instrumentation, documenting quality issues, and meeting analytical and safety standards.

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA; onsite laboratory work, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

Salary: $18–$19 per hour

What you will do

  • Prepare environmental samples using approved standard techniques, with a focus on PFAS analysis.
  • Perform chemical analyses using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry methods.
  • Evaluate, quantify, record, and report analytical data and unusual test occurrences.
  • Complete quality control samples, maintain instruments, and document nonconformances when required.
  • Maintain training records, laboratory supplies, glassware, samples, and general housekeeping.
  • Follow health, safety, quality assurance, and standard operating procedures while supporting other laboratory areas as needed.

Requirements

  • BS or BA in Chemistry or a related field, an associate degree, or two years of related laboratory experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
  • Ability to work under close supervision, follow written or verbal instructions, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform calculations, analyze data, communicate findings, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work with organic solvents, glassware, and specialized laboratory equipment.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience with PFAS and/or LC/MS.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory or production setting.
  • Experience identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and proposing practical solutions.
