TL;DR
Senior Configuration Analyst (DevOps): Supporting Veterans Affairs applications and leading cloud migration through software configuration management, release engineering, and automated build and deployment processes with an accent on regulated environments, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and reproducible builds. Focus on designing configuration standards and productivity tools, investigating build and dependency failures, and guiding developers and junior analysts in configuration management best practices.
Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered.
Salary: $74,325–$82,500 annually

What you will do
- Support Veterans Affairs applications and lead migration to the cloud.
- Develop and maintain configuration management tools for internally developed and commercial off-the-shelf software.
- Perform configuration management and release engineering across multiple environments.
- Design automated productivity tools, build procedures, and repeatable deployment processes using programming, scripting, and database technologies.
- Establish company-wide configuration standards and train developers in configuration management and software quality practices.
- Provide technical guidance, investigate complex build and deployment issues, and lead junior analysts and engineers.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and pass the required government investigation.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience; eight or more years may substitute for education.
- Deep experience in software configuration management, release engineering, complex builds and releases, source control, branching and merging, and CI/CD.
- Experience with Git, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps Repos, Subversion, Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Nexus, and Artifactory.
- Experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, work management tools, documentation tools, COTS software, and regulated or federal environments.
Nice to have
- ITIL Foundation, CMII, or equivalent configuration management certification.
- Experience with EDI X.12 medical claims, HL7, and FHIR.
