Staff Software Engineer (Applied AI)

Location: New York, NY; must be located in NYC and open to working in office

Salary: $200,000–$275,000 USD annually, plus benefits, equity where applicable, and bonus where applicable

What you will do

• Build generative AI-powered user experiences, natural-language commands, and AI agents that handle complex tasks.
• Design and ship safe, impactful AI-driven features for real-world customer problems.
• Scale the platform to process terabytes of data from diverse sources.
• Develop real-time querying and user notification capabilities.
• Optimize search algorithms and distributed software systems for fast, reliable results.
• Own major application areas from design through deployment and collaborate with engineers, deployment teams, and users.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience working with cross-functional software development teams.
• Experience shipping and iterating on production-grade software components.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture, scalability, and modern software development practices.
• Ability to write robust, well-tested, well-designed code and navigate large codebases.
• Understanding of responsible generative AI practices.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Experience applying large language models to improve user experience.
