Automotive Senior Technician

Location: Opelika, Alabama, United States; onsite retail automotive service role.

Salary: $18.54–$31.31 per hour, with a performance-based flat-rate compensation model.

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel, ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air-conditioning, and computer systems.
• Perform general automotive maintenance and tire repairs to specification.
• Explain technical diagnoses and recommended repairs to non-mechanical customers.
• Assist with and train technicians and mechanics on technical activities.
• Stay current with automotive technology through paid formal training.
• Obtain or maintain A.S.E. certification in at least three A1–A8 areas within the first two years.

Requirements

• Valid automobile driver’s license required, with the ability to drive customer and company vehicles.
• Demonstrated skills in brake and hydraulic systems and/or steering, suspension, and alignments.
• Experience with general automotive maintenance and tire repair.
• Current federal, state, and local certifications or licenses where applicable.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people, with reading, writing, and math skills.
• Preferred: three years of automotive repair experience, vocational-technical training, or relevant third-party assessments and certifications.

Nice to have

• A.S.E. certification in at least one A1–A8 area; L1 certification is acceptable.
