Focus on collecting and labeling specimens, recognizing changes in patient condition, supporting nursing and medical staff, and maintaining supplies and patient-care environments.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; 100% onsite

Salary: $50,000.00–$62,853.73 per year

What you will do

  • Provide direct patient care, including recording vital signs, pain screens, weights, and heights in the electronic medical record.
  • Collect, label, and process patient specimens and instruct patients and families on specimen collection.
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKGs as applicable and assist nursing and medical staff with clinical procedures.
  • Transport patients, specimens, medical records, blood components, equipment, and supplies according to institute policies.
  • Communicate patient status, concerns, wait times, and changes in condition to patients, families, and clinical staff.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, medical records, clinical areas, and patient-care environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework is preferred.
  • Two years of equivalent experience in a medical setting, or consideration as a nursing student in an accredited bachelor's program with at least two completed clinical rotations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and technical skills, with the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
  • BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to work in a busy clinical setting with patients of all ages and complex needs.
  • Working knowledge of clinical computer systems and electronic medical records.

Nice to have

  • Phlebotomy certification may be preferred depending on the location.
  • College coursework.
