Process Engineering Team Leader (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Alvin, Texas, United States

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year, commensurate with experience

INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA produces olefins and polyolefins, including butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene, across large-scale manufacturing sites in North America.

What you will do

• Lead the site-wide Process Engineering function across Olefins, Polymers, and Utilities.
• Translate site priorities into an integrated work plan and allocate engineering resources based on risk, business impact, urgency, workload, and development needs.
• Establish standardized engineering methods, calculations, documentation, templates, review practices, and quality checks.
• Lead technical troubleshooting of complex process equipment and control issues, ensuring sustainable corrective actions.
• Provide process engineering leadership for process safety activities, including operating limits, PHAs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, MOCs, investigations, audits, and risk reviews.
• Develop process engineers through coaching, mentoring, technical progression, training, and succession planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience applying process engineering principles in chemical manufacturing or a comparable continuous-process environment.
• Knowledge of process safety management, environmental compliance, engineering calculations, process troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
• Ability to lead, coach, prioritize, and coordinate engineers supporting multiple operating units.
• Strong technical judgment, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work at the Alvin, Texas site.

Nice to have

• Experience in petrochemical, refining, polymers, olefins, utilities, or similar continuous manufacturing operations.
• Previous leadership of engineers, technical teams, major cross-functional studies, or discipline governance activities.
• Experience with process simulation, process historians, data analysis tools, relief or flare evaluations, and structured problem-solving methods.
