IDCS Systems Engineer (Linux)

Location: On-site at the Piscataway, NJ, USA facility, Monday through Friday; preferred schedules are 11:00 AM–8:00 PM or 7:00 AM–4:00 PM. Work-related travel may be required up to 15%.

Salary: $90,000–$140,000 per year.

What you will do

• Install, configure, validate, maintain, and troubleshoot data center hardware and software, including complex customer-defined architectures.
• Maintain internal infrastructure, network, and automation environments, including advanced connectivity debugging.
• Develop and maintain scripts for hardware configuration, verification, automated builds, and prototype or first-article deployments.
• Create documented procedures for production environments and improve automation, information, and operational support systems.
• Diagnose complex hardware and software errors, resolve application performance issues, and escalate issues when appropriate.
• Collaborate with Project Management and Quality Control teams on integration requirements, expectations, and timelines.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering or a comparable technical environment.
• Ability to write, debug, and maintain automation code using PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
• Ability to work in CLI-based environments.
• Expertise installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting BIOS firmware and device drivers.
• Advanced networking knowledge, including OSI layers, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and routing.
• Extensive experience with data center environments and server, storage, and networking infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, troubleshooting, documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction, multitask with attention to detail, collaborate effectively, mentor team members, and produce quality results under pressure.
• Willingness to obtain certifications as needed.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field experience.
• 5+ years of Systems Engineering and Tier 2/Tier 3 IT Support experience, including successful completion of complex projects.
• 5+ years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and other data center appliances.
• Experience with Linux-based operating systems.
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as xCAT, Ansible, Chef, or similar technologies.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs.
• RHCE, CCNA, VCP, or other technology-related certifications.
• Ability to move or lift up to 50 lbs and work flexible hours as business needs require.
