Engineering Manager: Hardware Testing for Medical Devices (Medical Devices)

Location: Boxborough, Massachusetts, United States; minimum four days per week onsite

Salary: $142,400–$213,600 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end verification for hardware, software, and integrated imaging systems, including Software as a Medical Device.
• Manage test engineers across design verification, automation, and system integration testing.
• Own test strategy, plans, protocols, milestones, and execution across concurrent projects and product releases.
• Develop and adopt test automation frameworks to improve efficiency, coverage, and repeatability.
• Ensure verification aligns with regulatory, cybersecurity, privacy, and quality requirements.
• Coach personnel and collaborate with systems, software, hardware, regulatory, and quality teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for this role.
• Experience leading engineering processes, projects, or tactics and managing or developing technical personnel.
• Knowledge of verification, system integration, hardware, software, or test engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with Software as a Medical Device or medical device software testing.
• Experience with LabVIEW, TestComplete, test automation, and complex hardware/software integration.
• Experience testing x-ray or medical imaging systems and familiarity with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2.
• Experience with reliability demonstrations, embedded or connected systems, and mentoring direct reports.
