Senior Software Developer II (Confluent Cloud Platform)

Location: Remote within Canada. The role may require some travel based on business demand.

Salary: CAD 167,000–217,000 per year.

What you will do

• Build and evolve the Confluent Cloud metadata platform, including read, write, and real-time streaming APIs.
• Design and deliver large-scale distributed services that are secure, highly available, scalable, and easy to operate across regions and clouds.
• Solve distributed-systems challenges involving availability, consistency, sharding, concurrency, and scaling.
• Operate resilient backend systems and maintain observability, SLOs, incident response, and postmortem practices.
• Independently drive high-impact projects and collaborate through code reviews, testing, documentation, and technical communication.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship.
• Applicants working under a permit who are foreign nationals from Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine are not eligible.
• Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale backend services in production.
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills in Go or a similar major language, with expertise in concurrency and correctness.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data stores such as DynamoDB, Cosmos, Spanner, or Cassandra, and at least one major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with observability, SLOs, on-call operations, incident response, code review, testing, documentation, and clear communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes operators and controller patterns.
• Event streaming experience with Kafka, event ordering, idempotency, and at-least-once or exactly-once delivery.
• Master's degree.
