Principal Health & Safety Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Bridgestone Tower, United States; travel required 40–60%. Employment requires completion of Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, and temporary work authorization or the need for sponsorship may disqualify candidates.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise fire protection, disaster prevention, and machine safety programs across manufacturing, logistics, retail, and corporate operations.
• Develop fire protection specifications, management-system documentation, training programs, governance processes, and performance metrics.
• Design and review fire detection, alarm, extinguishing, and other protection systems for existing sites and new building projects.
• Conduct audits, risk assessments, feasibility studies, investigations, and machine and work-environment validation activities.
• Support authorities, architects, engineers, contractors, external assessment bodies, and local authorities having jurisdiction on compliance and system implementation.
• Track outstanding risks and mitigation plans while contributing to a fire protection and machine safety Center of Excellence.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalent, with 8+ years of applicable experience; alternatively, an MS with 6+ years of applicable experience.
• PE or another related certification is required.
• Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, FM standards, fire safety, fire prevention, audit techniques, and health and safety management systems based on the PDCA cycle.
• Experience interpreting standards, codes, hydraulics, drawings, and blueprints, and managing third-party contractors.
• Knowledge of the European regulatory framework for equipment-related directives.
• Ability to travel 40–60% and demonstrate strong safety leadership, change-management, planning, and implementation skills.
