TL;DR
Senior Manager - Regulatory Affairs (Regulatory Compliance and Higher Education): Translating complex regulatory, legislative, accreditation, and policy developments into practical guidance and implementation strategies across multi-institutional higher education operations with an accent on federal and state requirements, accreditation, and regulatory risk. Focus on leading regulatory research, assessing institutional impacts, advising senior stakeholders, and guiding Strategy and Research personnel.

Location: Chicago, IL, USA; hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week, Monday through Thursday

Salary: $85,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

  • Interpret complex regulatory, legislative, accreditation, and policy requirements and provide practical business guidance.
  • Lead regulatory monitoring, research, impact assessments, benchmarking, and environmental scans.
  • Advise leaders on growth initiatives, institutional changes, regulatory risks, corrective actions, and implementation strategies.
  • Support cross-functional workgroups and implementation teams addressing federal, state, and accreditor requirements.
  • Develop regulatory guidance, procedures, training, reports, executive summaries, and implementation resources.
  • Lead the Strategy and Research function, including prioritization, analysis review, staff coaching, and workflow management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in regulatory assurance, compliance, or licensing.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of multiple state authorizing agencies and institutional or programmatic accreditors.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Nice to have

  • Experience with U.S. Department of Education regulations and Title IV requirements.
  • Experience with federal rulemaking, accreditation, or multi-institutional operations.
