TL;DR
Scientist / Sr. Scientist In Vivo Translational Sciences (Biotech): Leading the design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of in vivo pharmacology studies in mice and rats to support therapeutic program progression with an accent on translational strategy, animal model development, and pharmacodynamic readouts. Focus on developing fibrosis and age-related disease models, performing rodent surgeries and tissue analyses, and solving complex study-design and data-interpretation challenges in a regulated vivarium environment.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States; the role requires working in a lab/vivarium for the majority of working hours and supporting weekend study needs.

Salary: Scientist II, In Vivo Pharmacology: $148,400–$190,300 per year; Senior Scientist I, In Vivo Pharmacology: $171,400–$219,700 per year.

Company

hirify.global develops cell rejuvenation approaches intended to restore cell health and resilience and address disease, injury, and age-related disability.

What you will do

  • Lead the full lifecycle of in vivo pharmacology studies, from design and protocol development through dosing, monitoring, tissue collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Select pharmacodynamic and target-engagement readouts and contribute to translational strategies for target validation and candidate progression.
  • Develop, characterize, and implement mouse and rat models, including fibrosis and other age-related pathologies.
  • Execute rodent studies, including dosing, anesthesia, aseptic survival surgeries, necropsy, tissue processing, and occasional ex vivo analyses.
  • Evaluate new technologies and best practices to improve in vivo study efficiency and quality while maintaining complete electronic lab notebook documentation.
  • Collaborate with discovery biology, pharmacology, assay sciences, DMPK, technology development, and external CRO partners.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences with 3–5 years of industry experience for Scientist level or 6+ years for Senior Scientist level in drug discovery and development.
  • Extensive hands-on expertise in rodent research, including dosing routes, anesthesia, surgical procedures, necropsy, and tissue processing in mice and rats.
  • Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques, including RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, Western blot, ELISA, and small-molecule or biologic assays.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to animal welfare, 3Rs-centered experimental design, IACUC-approved protocols, and ethical study conduct.
  • Ability to work in a lab/vivarium environment for most working hours, including weekend study support.

Nice to have

  • Experience with small molecules, biotherapeutics, nucleic acid therapeutics, and gene therapy.
  • Experience analyzing fibrosis, inflammation, metabolic disorders, neurodegeneration, or other age-related diseases in animal models.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative environment focused on scientific excellence, learning, belonging, and inclusion.
  • Emphasis on ownership, continuous improvement, professional growth, and creative problem-solving.
  • Equal employment opportunity and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
