Azure Databricks Architect (Azure Databricks)

What you will do

• Architect enterprise-scale Azure Databricks platforms and scalable, secure, cost-optimised cloud data platforms.
• Develop platform strategies, roadmaps, governance models, architecture blueprints, reference architectures, and technical standards.
• Design lakehouse architectures, data integration frameworks, and BI, analytics, AI/ML, and consumption layers.
• Lead FinOps operating models, cost attribution, budget governance, chargeback/showback, tagging, and policy enforcement.
• Drive platform transformation, including Discovery Zone architecture, onboarding frameworks, and migration from POSIT/RStudio and other analytical platforms.
• Lead architecture decisions across delivery teams while engaging business, security, and enterprise architecture stakeholders and mentoring technical teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience architecting enterprise-scale Azure Databricks platforms.
• Deep knowledge of Databricks Serverless, SQL Warehouses, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, platform governance, and Azure networking, identity, security, and private connectivity.
• Experience with enterprise-scale performance and workload optimisation, data governance, secure integration patterns, regulatory alignment, and operational controls.
• Experience designing end-to-end data platforms, lakehouse architectures, data integration frameworks, and cloud transformation programmes.
• Strong stakeholder management, technical leadership, documentation, and standards development skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model across company offices, client sites, and home; 100% home working is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale Azure and Databricks transformation programmes or POSIT/RStudio consolidation.
• AI/ML platform architecture, LLM, model serving, vector retrieval, or RAG architecture experience.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, public sector, utilities, or other regulated industries.
