TL;DR
Data Engineer (Python/Airflow): Building and maintaining reliable data pipelines for a global cannabis retail platform with an accent on data ingestion, observability, and cloud infrastructure. Focus on optimizing analytical queries and storage, validating data quality, and designing scalable workflows across databases, APIs, event streams, and third-party integrations.
Location: Remote International; 100% remote with no offices required. Core team time is 09:00–15:00 GMT, with flexibility by team.
Salary: Paid in USD under a B2B contract with a US company.

is a product-driven startup building an enterprise-grade cannabis retail platform that combines POS, eCommerce, marketing, analytics, and inventory management.
What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines with Airflow and Trino across databases, APIs, event streams, and third-party integrations.
- Implement monitoring, validation, alerting, and other observability practices to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain data services in the AWS cloud.
- Collaborate with Product Analytics, Data Architecture, and Engineering teams to define and deliver data requirements.
- Optimize queries, pipelines, and storage for performance and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Hands-on experience with Airflow, OLAP databases, distributed query engines, and data processing frameworks such as ClickHouse, Trino, and Spark.
- Solid understanding of data modeling and data engineering best practices.
- Familiarity with event-based data architectures and streaming technologies such as Spark and Flink.
- English communication sufficient for the recruitment process, including a short English check.
Nice to have
- Experience with Terraform and Terragrunt for cloud infrastructure deployments.
- Experience with Helm, Kustomize, and Argo CD for Kubernetes deployments.
- Experience building and owning cloud infrastructure.
