Backend Engineer (IAM)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $164,200–$229,900 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the level and position.

What you will do

• Build and ship backend services supporting identity, authentication, and authorization for Reddit users and backend systems.
• Design a more performant, scalable, and reliable architecture for consumer IAM.
• Select, scope, and execute high-impact projects aligned with Reddit’s goals.
• Define and implement the IAM vision and roadmap with product management, security, client engineering, and backend teams.
• Collaborate across Reddit Engineering and continue developing technical and non-technical capabilities.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience designing and developing distributed backend systems.
• Backend experience in identity and access management, specifically authorization or authentication.
• Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, preferably Go.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, or GCP.
• Strong communication skills and empathy for cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States.
