TL;DR
Automotive Senior Technician (Automotive): Diagnosing and repairing drivability, electrical, braking, suspension, air conditioning, and computer systems in a retail automotive service environment with an accent on technical accuracy, customer communication, and automotive safety. Focus on solving complex vehicle faults, mentoring technicians, and building ASE certification across multiple service areas.
Location: San Jose, United States
Pay range: $19.57–$32.02 per hour through a performance-based flat-rate compensation model.

What you will do
- Diagnose and repair brake and hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems.
- Perform general automotive maintenance and tire repairs to specification.
- Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to customers without mechanical backgrounds.
- Assist with and train technicians and mechanics on technical activities.
- Stay current with changing automotive technology through paid formal training.
- Obtain or maintain A.S.E. certifications in at least three of the A1–A8 areas within the first two years.
Requirements
- Valid automobile driver's license and ability to drive customer and company vehicles.
- Demonstrated skills in brake and hydraulic systems, and/or steering, suspension, and alignments.
- Experience with general automotive maintenance and tire repair.
- Current federal, state, and local certifications or licenses where applicable.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people, with reading, writing, and math skills.
- Three years of automotive repair experience, relevant third-party certifications, or completion of a vocational-technical program is preferred.
Nice to have
- A.S.E. certification in at least one A1–A8 area; L1 certification is acceptable.
