Import & Export Forwarding Supervisor (Dangerous Goods)

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home. Working hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PST.

Salary: $67,200–$90,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Plan, organize, and control import and export forwarding operations, including product movement, processing, sorting, and output.
• Lead, train, and develop a staff of 1–15 direct reports and provide daily operational direction.
• Maintain payroll, performance reviews, goals, personnel records, reports, and operational documentation.
• Implement safety programs and control equipment, utilities, and supplies to maintain cost-effective operations.
• Coordinate with internal and external customers, carriers, and vendors to resolve service issues and escalations.
• Oversee related product movement to maximize operational efficiency and service quality.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of air or ocean freight forwarding experience in import or export operations.
• Minimum 2 years of team leadership, supervisory, or equivalent leadership experience.
• Strong operational knowledge and experience independently handling operational issues and escalations.
• Strong customer service, communication, training, and staff oversight skills.
• Good understanding of ocean freight documentation, Incoterms, compliance, and carrier/vendor coordination.
• An associate’s or college degree in business or equivalent business experience is preferred.

Nice to have

• Transportation-IMDG certification or ocean forwarders certification.
• Experience working with dangerous goods operations.
