GNC/AOCS Engineer for Space Missions

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid working model. The role is based at the Lisbon premises, with up to 8 weeks per year of teleworking outside the usual geographical area.

What you will do

• Perform mission design activities for real ESA missions, including GNC subsystem design, mission analysis, trajectory design, and feasibility studies.
• Design, develop, verify, and validate guidance, navigation, and control algorithms.
• Define ground operational timelines and assess navigation and orbit-determination performance.
• Analyze the impact of navigation performance on mission feasibility and required GNC autonomy.
• Develop mission-analysis, feasibility-study, and analysis tools for ESA projects.

Requirements

• MSc in Aerospace Engineering or a similar field.
• Fluency in written and oral English.
• Motivation to learn and develop within a GNC/AOCS organization focused on space missions.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, and attitude mechanics.
• Knowledge of estimation and filtering techniques.
• Knowledge of statistical and probabilistic analysis.
• Knowledge of space vehicle AOCS/GNC and C programming.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, Simulink, or model-based algorithm development.
