What you will do

• Build, maintain, and modernize internal and external web applications supporting the Federal Highway Administration Office of Policy.
• Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle within an Agile development environment, from requirements gathering through production deployment.
• Develop high-performance applications using C# and modern Microsoft .NET frameworks in Microsoft Azure environments.
• Review legacy .NET Framework and ASP.NET Web Forms applications, optimize database queries, and migrate systems to modern .NET and Azure PaaS technologies.
• Implement automated regression, integration, and smoke testing with Playwright and maintain Azure DevOps deployment pipelines.
• Collaborate with developers, database administrators, systems administrators, architects, and client stakeholders while producing technical documentation and conducting peer code reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of professional IT experience, including 5 years of specialized software development and applications programming experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with C# and Microsoft .NET enterprise web applications, including LINQ and modern .NET framework upgrades.
• At least 3 years of experience writing complex SQL queries, designing database schemas, and working with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
• Experience with Git, Agile SDLC practices, JSON, XML, IIS 10, and Windows Server environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, technical documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or Azure Dedicated SQL Pool.
• Experience with Blazor, Syncfusion, Telerik UI, Telerik Reporting, and Playwright test automation.
• Experience maintaining Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and supporting federal transportation systems, especially DOT or FHWA projects.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate certification.
• Experience using Google Gemini and Notebook AI models to streamline work processes and products.
