TL;DR
Software Engineer (TypeScript/Node.js): Building scalable APIs, AWS serverless services, and customer-facing account onboarding journeys with an accent on cloud-native backend engineering, event-driven systems, and full-stack delivery. Focus on designing resilient distributed services, evolving GraphQL and REST architectures, and delivering reliable production features for large-scale customer interactions.
Location: Welcome Building, Bristol, United Kingdom. Flexible working options are available, including hybrid working.

What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services for the Onboarding platform.
- Build scalable APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
- Develop AWS serverless applications and event-driven services.
- Improve platform scalability, resilience, observability, performance, and operational excellence.
- Contribute across the full stack, including customer-facing web applications.
- Own features and production issues from design through delivery while participating in architecture discussions and code reviews.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, REST APIs, API integrations, JSON processing, and AWS technologies.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, CDK, SST, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, IAM, Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, distributed systems, and cloud-native application development.
- Experience working across frontend and backend technologies, including React and TypeScript.
- Strong ownership, independent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience designing GraphQL APIs, schemas, federation patterns, and REST-to-GraphQL migrations.
- Experience with Typesense, Elasticsearch, Contentful, feature flagging, OAuth, cross-account AWS patterns, analytics, or Grafana.
- Experience with TanStack Query, Zustand, Vite, micro-frontends, Module Federation, or Tailwind CSS.
- Financial services experience.
