Accountant

Location: Penang, Malaysia; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned hirify.global site and off-site work.

What you will do

• Prepare and maintain financial records, ledger accounts, revenue, sales, tax, and statutory financial reports.
• Coordinate audits and manage interactions with external auditors and government authorities.
• Validate month-end accounts, investigate discrepancies, answer management and auditor questions, and resolve reporting issues.
• Develop and maintain finance policies, procedures, internal controls, and accounting standards.
• Define accounting system requirements and support system development, automation, and ad hoc finance projects.
• Coordinate local statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance while partnering with other departments on complex transactions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates and early-career professionals are also eligible.
• Proficiency in SAP or an equivalent ERP system.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex financial data.

Nice to have

• Membership in or active pursuit of CPA, ACCA, MICPA, or MIA certification.
• Experience with Power BI, Python, Power Automate, or SQL scripting.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with diverse teams.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous and dynamic environments.
