TL;DR

Accountant (SAP/US GAAP): Preparing and analyzing financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and producing financial reports with an accent on compliance, internal controls, and operational accuracy. Focus on reconciling accounts, supporting audits, improving accounting processes through automation, and validating data during system upgrades.

Location: Penang, Malaysia. Hybrid work model with time split between the assigned hirify.global site and off-site work.

What you will do

Prepare and maintain financial records in accordance with US GAAP, internal policies, and local accounting standards.
Support monthly and annual financial close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Analyze financial data and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, including statutory and regulatory filings.
Collaborate with external auditors, government authorities, and other stakeholders during audits and reporting cycles.
Maintain internal controls and compliance with defined accounting procedures and SOX requirements.
Identify process automation opportunities and participate in system upgrades, data validation, and user acceptance testing.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates and early-career professionals are also considered.
Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with US GAAP compliance and financial reporting standards.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex financial data.

Nice to have

Membership in or active pursuit of CPA, ACCA, MICPA, or MIA certification.
Experience with Power BI, Python, Power Automate, or SQL scripting.
Experience working with diverse teams and adapting to ambiguous, dynamic environments.
