Senior Software Engineer II (Data Pipelines)

Location: Remote within most states in the United States, with some exclusions. Office hubs are available in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.

Salary: $155,000–$180,000 annually, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Lead complex data engineering projects and serve as a technical leader for pipeline automation and workflow orchestration.
• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize reliable ELT pipelines using Airflow, dbt, and Google Cloud data products.
• Manage a large portfolio of dbt models, including macros, reusable DRY patterns, and dbt tests.
• Architect scalable data solutions, reusable patterns, integrations, and deployment documentation.
• Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline performance while improving delivery speed, quality, security, governance, and compliance.
• Mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience with extensive Python, SQL, and data pipeline experience.
• Expertise building and automating ETL/ELT pipelines with Airflow and DAG-based workflow management.
• Deep experience with dbt models, macros, tests, PostgreSQL, and BigQuery, including query optimization for performance and cost.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Terraform, API integrations, software architecture, and advanced data formats including Parquet, Avro, Hive, and JSONL.
• Familiarity with version control, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, test-driven development, Agile methodologies, and business intelligence tools such as Looker.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; immigration sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Airbyte for data ingestion.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
