Privacy Manager (Online Gambling)

Location: Full-time onsite role at the Melbourne office, Australia

What you will do

• Own and mature the global privacy framework across brands and jurisdictions, including policies, procedures, controls, and the privacy roadmap.
• Monitor privacy regulations and translate legal obligations into prioritised business requirements and practical controls.
• Design and run privacy impact assessments and embed privacy by design into product development, vendor management, AI initiatives, and data use.
• Assess privacy risks involving vendors, processors, affiliates, and commercial partners, and manage data processing agreements and cross-border transfer mechanisms.
• Advise product, engineering, security, data, marketing, and customer operations teams, while delivering privacy training and awareness.
• Report on privacy risks, metrics, incidents, and remediation progress, and support audits, certifications, and regulatory enquiries.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in law, information governance, risk, compliance, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of dedicated privacy or data protection experience, including ownership of a privacy programme in a multi-jurisdictional organisation handling significant volumes of personal information.
• Working knowledge of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), Australian Privacy Principles, Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, EU GDPR, and UK GDPR.
• Understanding of technology stacks, cloud infrastructure, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and the privacy risks associated with them.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required.
• Strong organisation, prioritisation, autonomy, and stakeholder-influence skills in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Privacy certification such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, or FIP.
• Legal background or admission to practice.
• Familiarity with North American privacy regimes and state-based comprehensive privacy laws.
• Experience with online gambling regulation, AML/CTF, know-your-customer, responsible gambling data requirements, or livestreaming.
