Commercial Closing Regional Manager (Open to Locations w/in the M&T Footprint)

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States of America; four days in the office. Open to locations within the M&T footprint.

Salary: $107,500–$179,100 annual USD

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day operations for commercial loan closing teams across assigned markets or regions.
• Oversee accurate, timely completion of commercial loan closings in line with credit approvals, bank policies, and regulations.
• Review complex loan structures, documentation, collateral arrangements, covenants, exceptions, and booking accuracy.
• Serve as the escalation point for high-risk, non-standard, and structurally complex closing issues.
• Manage workload, pipeline performance, turn times, funding accuracy, and exception trends.
• Coach and develop staff, onboard associates, build leadership capacity, and partner with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of relevant commercial loan closing, documentation, operations, administration, or related experience, including at least two years of managerial, supervisory, or work leadership experience.
• Alternatively, at least eleven years of combined higher education and related experience, including at least seven years of relevant commercial lending experience and three years of managerial, supervisory, or work leadership experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, external counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Command of commercial loan products and origination platforms such as nCino.
• Ability to work in the office four days per week and within the M&T footprint.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with loan approvals, escalation and exception requirements, and other closing approvals.
• Knowledge of departmental policies, products, systems, and workflows.
• Prior experience as a paralegal or in lending operations, underwriting, or customer service.
