Winter 2027 Tax or Audit Internship

Location: San Francisco, California, United States. Hybrid work environment with regular in-office attendance; office expectations vary by location and service line.

Pay rate in California: $27.50–$109.25 per hour. Compensation depends on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, work arrangements, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Support audit and other assurance engagements by testing account balances, transactions, and financial information.
• Assist with federal, state, and local tax returns, calculations, workpapers, supporting schedules, and related deliverables.
• Conduct tax research and document findings for engagement teams and client needs.
• Prepare clear workpapers documenting procedures, evidence, results, and conclusions.
• Collaborate with engagement teams and clients to obtain information, communicate progress, and resolve questions.
• Use approved audit, tax, data analysis, workflow, document management, and collaboration technologies.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business discipline at an accredited institution.
• At least one academic term must remain after the internship.
• On track to meet educational requirements for CPA exam eligibility before starting a full-time Associate position.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored visa sponsorship.
• Foundational accounting knowledge, research and analytical ability, and clear written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Nice to have

• Previous internship, academic, leadership, volunteer, customer service, or other relevant experience.
• Demonstrated interest in accounting or professional services.
