Senior Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (Customer Experience)

Location: Fremont, California, United States. Hybrid schedule with one day per week in the office, regular in-person meetings and events, and required domestic travel. A valid driver's license is required.

Salary: $209,000–$253,000 annual California base salary; the position also includes eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Define frontend architecture for the customer vehicle purchase journey, including trade-in, configuration, finance, leasing, and delivery.
• Build performant customer-facing interfaces end to end, including UI implementation, API integration, error handling, and production monitoring.
• Own frontend performance and reliability, including Core Web Vitals, rendering performance, load times, and resilience during service degradation.
• Lead the evolution of shared component libraries and design systems with a focus on consistency, accessibility, and developer experience.
• Partner with product and design, lead cross-team frontend initiatives, conduct code and design reviews, and author architecture decision records.
• Mentor senior frontend engineers and evaluate AI-assisted development tools and practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 12+ years of frontend engineering experience with senior staff-level scope and organization-wide influence.
• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, WebGL, GSAP, Framer, and Astro.
• Experience with large-scale frontend architecture, component libraries or design systems, SSR, SSG, CSR, code splitting, and bundle optimization.
• Strong knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards, UX and interaction design, and maintainable implementation practices.
• Experience leading technical strategy across teams, writing RFCs, conducting architecture reviews, and communicating trade-offs to product, design, and engineering stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI/ML platform foundations or developer AI tooling.
• Experience in automotive, mobility, retail, ecommerce, or digital consumer products.
• Experience building multi-tenant platforms, shared enterprise services, microfrontend architectures, or mobile foundations with iOS, Android, or React Native.
