TL;DR
Forward-Deployed Biostatistics Subject Matter Expert (AI): Building and evaluating AI agent systems for statistical analysis, clinical trial design, and regulatory deliverables with an accent on SAP development, sample size determination, endpoint analysis, and regulator-ready outputs. Focus on designing benchmarks, identifying agent failure modes, validating statistical accuracy, and improving LLM performance in real-world biotech and pharma environments.

Location: Remote within the U.S. only; ideally Boston, New York City, or San Francisco, with 20–40% domestic travel

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

  • Improve LLM agents' ability to execute complex statistical analysis and clinical trial design tasks in scientific and customer data environments.
  • Design benchmarks, acceptance criteria, and failure-mode evaluations for SAP development, sample size determination, and endpoint analysis.
  • Partner with biostatisticians and clinical development leaders to apply AI agents to statistical and regulatory deliverables.
  • Evaluate AI-generated outputs for statistical accuracy and regulatory soundness, identifying issues that require further investigation.
  • Support engagement scoping, success metrics, and pre-sales technical evaluations with go-to-market and account teams.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer biostatisticians and research leaders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of biostatistical experience in biotech or pharma, including sponsor or CRO experience.
  • Graduate degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline; a Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Expertise in SAP development, sample size determination, and early-phase I/II clinical trial design.
  • Proficiency in R and/or SAS, with experience in statistical programming and validation.
  • Familiarity with ICH and FDA standards, CSRs, IND filings, and CDISC-compliant SDTM and ADaM datasets.
  • Ability to work remotely from the U.S. and travel domestically 20–40% of the time.

Nice to have

  • Experience in oncology, immuno-oncology, immunology, cardiovascular, neurology, or hepatology/MASH.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Experience rapidly prototyping, working independently, and delivering complex tasks in high-stakes environments.
  • Experience working across diverse projects in sprint-based formats and reproducing or QCing statistical analyses.
