Deputy Team Leader, Program Enablement (PLMSP)

Location: Brisbane or Canberra, Australia. Valid work rights in Australia are required; visa sponsorship is not available. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Full-time engagement through September 2028, with possible extension subject to project requirements and funding.

What you will do

• Provide strategic oversight of program enabling functions, including contract management, procurement and workforce planning.
• Lead organisational change, transition planning and continuous improvement across the Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program.
• Provide strategic supervision and support to Stream Leads across operations, people, technology and communications.
• Advise the Senior Leadership Team on organisational planning, decision-making and program direction.
• Strengthen risk governance, escalation and reporting, while supporting effective engagement with DFAT and senior stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach senior staff and foster a collaborative, high-performing leadership culture.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in business administration, organisational leadership, change management, public policy, international development, program management or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience in senior leadership roles within complex programs, organisations or business functions.
• Demonstrated experience in organisational change, business improvement, governance reform, strategic risk management or organisational transformation.
• Experience working in complex, politically sensitive or rapidly evolving environments and making sound decisions under uncertainty.
• Strong experience influencing senior stakeholders, including government, client or executive-level audiences.
• Proven people leadership, communication and cross-cultural engagement skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working with DFAT or comparable government stakeholders.
