Senior Data Engineer, Insights Delivery Merch

Salary: $142,000–$220,500 annual

What you will do

• Lead engineering projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Design and develop scalable data applications, database solutions, and analytical pipelines in cloud-based Big Data environments.
• Build near-real-time distributed processing and event-driven streaming solutions for merchandise and business insights.
• Develop testing tools and CI/CD pipelines, conduct code reviews, and improve engineering automation.
• Optimize data performance, quality, cost, monitoring, logging, and production reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver self-service BI solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing data pipelines, database architectures, SQL solutions, data models, and automated engineering solutions.
• 5+ years of experience with Java or Python and 3+ years with cloud environments such as GCP.
• Experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark, DynamoDB, Airflow, scalable distributed systems, and event-driven streaming architecture.
• 2+ years of experience leading multi-engineer projects and mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools and applying data-engineering and operational-excellence practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt and GCP BigQuery.
• Knowledge of merchandise planning, inventory, and selling-control reporting data solutions.
