Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, California

Salary: $190,000–$265,000 per year, plus equity and bonus

What you will do

• Design, implement, and ship APIs and backend services for the editor, dashboard, and customer documentation sites.
• Improve content ingestion, validation, transformation, and publishing across thousands of customer repositories.
• Build search, retrieval, and agent infrastructure for AI products.
• Improve caching, queues, databases, performance, reliability, and observability as the platform scales.
• Contribute to product direction, technical decisions, and feature delivery from development through launch.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• Strong experience with systems design, API architecture, databases, and production systems.
• Strong product intuition and attention to customer needs.
• Adaptability to work beyond backend engineering when needed to ship features.
• Ability to take ownership, define solutions, and engage directly with customers.
