Print Manager (Packaging Print)

Location: Full-time, on-site role based in Brooklyn, New York, United States. Flexibility across production shifts is required during commissioning, ramp-up, and critical operating periods.

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 USD per year, determined by experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.

What you will do

• Lead installation, commissioning, acceptance testing, start-up, and production ramp-up for an integrated Domino digital inkjet, Nilpeter material-handling, and Precision folding and gluing line.
• Own print operations from production planning, prepress, material staging, and job setup through printing, finishing, quality release, and handoff to downstream operations.
• Build the print function, including team structure, hiring, onboarding, shift coverage, training, certification, standard work, and accountability practices.
• Coach operators, troubleshoot equipment and converting issues, and coordinate with Engineering, Facilities, Packaging, Quality, Brand, Technology, suppliers, and equipment partners.
• Establish controls for artwork versions, variable data, barcodes, QR codes, registration, print density, adhesion, folding, gluing, and finished-sleeve quality.
• Own safety, maintenance, inventory, operating budgets, KPIs, and a continuous-improvement roadmap covering uptime, throughput, yield, waste, changeover time, and cost per sleeve.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in commercial printing, folding-carton production, packaging print, or a comparable high-volume print environment.
• 2+ years leading print operators, technicians, or production teams, with experience developing people and improving performance.
• Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting digital inkjet, flexographic, offset, or hybrid print equipment; high-speed web handling and converting experience is valued.
• Working knowledge of prepress, PDFs, RIPs, job setup, color and density control, variable data, barcode and QR-code quality, and artwork version management.
• Understanding of print defects, registration, substrate behavior, ink adhesion and curing, folding and gluing quality, root-cause problem-solving, SOPs, maintenance routines, training programs, and production dashboards.
• Ability to work on-site in Brooklyn and flex across production schedules, including the physical requirements of a production environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Domino, Nilpeter, Precision folder/gluers, or comparable equipment.
• Experience commissioning a press or converting line, launching a print room, or scaling a print operation.
• Experience with folding cartons, paperboard sleeves, food or consumer packaging, and high-SKU, short-run production.
• Familiarity with OEE, CMMS, Lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work, automated inspection, vision systems, barcode verification, or production-workflow software.
• Technical or trade-school training in graphic communications, printing technology, manufacturing, engineering technology, or a related field.
