TL;DR
Associate Software Developer - AI (Backend/AI): Building and maintaining backend services, REST APIs, and integrations that support customer-facing AI assistants with an accent on large language models, enterprise data, workflow automation, and reliable cloud systems. Focus on integrating AI capabilities, implementing validation and human-review mechanisms, and troubleshooting services, databases, and external integrations.
Location: Portugal; fully remote

What you will do
- Develop, test, and maintain backend services supporting AI assistants.
- Integrate large language models, enterprise data, APIs, and workflow automation into customer-facing products.
- Build and maintain REST APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
- Implement validation, monitoring, fallback, and human-review mechanisms for AI-powered features.
- Write maintainable, testable code and participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and technical discussions.
- Collaborate with product, UX, data, security, QA, and platform teams to release new features.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of one or more backend programming languages and associated frameworks.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and software design principles.
- Experience developing or consuming REST APIs, plus knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with testing, Git, and collaborative software development practices.
- Analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with an interest in AI assistants, large language models, conversational AI, or workflow automation.
Nice to have
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Exposure to LLM APIs, prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, or vector search.
- Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Angular.
- Familiarity with Agile development, CI/CD, cloud platforms, or DevOps practices.
