Operations and Automation Engineer (Satellite Operations)

Location: Remote from an approved U.S. location. Hiring is currently available in AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IA, ID, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VT, VA. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and a reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Salary: $143,000–$201,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and implement automation for spacecraft and ground station operations across simultaneous missions.
• Execute satellite operation plans and maintain continuity of satellite services with cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Analyze telemetry and satellite health reports to assess performance and identify potential issues.
• Troubleshoot anomalies and system malfunctions, applying corrective actions to restore satellite functionality.
• Plan and coordinate orbit corrections, station-keeping, and other satellite maneuvers.
• Support new satellite integration and the transition from launch to operational service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of project or industry experience operating or automating complex systems.
• Experience with Python, Julia, or another high-level scripting language.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and independent decision-making skills.
• Must satisfy applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience operating or automating spacecraft, ground stations, or complex communication systems.
• Understanding of satellite subsystems, including power, propulsion, communications, and payloads.
• Familiarity with satellite-operations standards and ITU and FCC regulations.
