Director of Credentialing (Healthcare)

Location: New York, New York; hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office. Candidates must be based in the United States.

Salary: $130,000–$145,000 annual base salary, plus cash bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Oversee direct and delegated credentialing processes and ensure accreditation and regulatory compliance.
• Lead credentialing operations, including database maintenance, workflow improvement, reporting, policy development, and staff supervision.
• Support compliance through document reviews, delegated-entity audits, sanctions and complaints reviews, site reviews, and corrective action planning.
• Define and monitor credentialing KPIs and SLAs, including turnaround time, quality audits, and file completeness.
• Manage provider escalations, committee governance, vendors and CVOs, provider lifecycle workflows, and stakeholder training.
• Establish data governance and deliver reporting on credentialing risks, trends, data integrity, access controls, and audit trails.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States and authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• 10+ years of experience in medical staff services or credentialing.
• Proven experience hiring, coaching, and managing employee performance.
• Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, NCQA, CMS Conditions of Participation, and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Experience with delegated credentialing oversight, audit readiness, credentialing software or CVO platforms, databases, reporting tools, policies, workflows, and metrics.
• CPCS or CPMSM certification required. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
