Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States; on-site work on the production floor

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain facility layout drawings for production and support areas using CAD software.
  • Analyze manufacturing workflows, space utilization, equipment layouts, and production requirements to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct time studies, maintain labor standards, and create standard work documentation and manufacturing procedures.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize manufacturing data; evaluate data collection systems and support improvement implementation.
  • Assess ergonomics, workplace safety, 5S compliance, quality, and Lean Manufacturing opportunities.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues, identify root causes, support corrective actions, and research cobots and optical inspection technologies.

Requirements

  • Be a sophomore or higher pursuing Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering or science discipline at an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines with minimal supervision, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to work directly on the production floor in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work a full-time internship schedule of 40 hours per week throughout the internship period.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, automation technologies, and operational excellence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
