Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, on-site. The engineering team works in person five days a week from a waterfront office in Brooklyn, with flexibility as needed.

Salary: $160,000–$300,000 base salary plus equity

What you will do

• Own the foundational systems, tools, primitives, and shared infrastructure used by product engineers.
• Build internal platforms and developer tooling that improve workflows, reliability, and engineering velocity.
• Turn repeated patterns and one-off fixes into durable platforms, abstractions, and default ways of working.
• Develop and implement a point of view on effective engineering practices through code and systems.
• Operate in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while balancing long-term technical quality with delivery speed.
• Advise engineers and leadership on unusual systems issues and the future direction of the platform.

Requirements

• Track record of building and owning foundational systems used by other engineers.
• Ability to ramp quickly, work through ambiguity, and make progress without fully specified problems.
• Strong judgment when balancing ideal technical solutions with execution velocity.
• Preference for systemic fixes, reusable abstractions, and high-leverage engineering work.
• Experience enabling other engineers or teams, not only implementing assigned work.
• Interest in defining and building platform direction rather than following a fixed roadmap.

Nice to have

• Experience building or owning internal platforms, developer tooling, or shared infrastructure.
• Experience with agentic systems, LLM platforms, or large-scale data ingestion pipelines.
• Experience becoming a trusted point of contact for unclear or unusual system behavior.
